Borussia Monchengladbach head coach Daniel Farke has stated that reported Everton target Marcus Thuram will not sign for another club this summer despite rumours on a potential departure.

Speaking to Kicker via GGFN, the former Norwich City manager confessed that he has no plans to sell the France international, with Thuram’s future being a constant topic of debate in the German media in recent months, with the current stance being that the forward will stay with Gladbach.

Thuram has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and Everton a reportedly just one such side interested in signing the 24-year-old attacker, with CalcioMercato reporting that the Toffees have the Italian-born forward on their radar.

With a rumoured price tag of €45m (£38m), Thuram will be an expensive signing for Frank Lampard this summer, though the departure of Richarlison does free up some much-needed funds for Everton, who could now move for the Bundesliga star based on his quality and versatility.

However, according to Farke, the German coach has no plans to sell Thuram ahead of his first season in charge of Gladbach, with the former Norwich boss losing his position with the Premier League side in late 2020 following a dreadful start to the season.

Fark said on Thuram’s future with Gladbach this summer amid Premier League interest: “There’s no sign that Marcus is even thinking about other things. We have no intention of letting him go on our part either, because he is an exceptional player.”

Thuram has had a difficult 12 months after an inconsistent 21/22 season and losing his place in the French national team, yet for Everton, the forward could be ideal signing to replace Richarlison despite Farke’s comments about wanting to keep the attacker.

After all, Everton have the funds to sign the forward and the space in the squad to facilitate his transfer, and after last season, Thuram could do with a change of scenery, especially ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where a strong start to the new campaign could win the attacker a spot to Qatar.
