Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has rubbished suggestions that he could move for Glasgow Rangers centre-back George Edmundson this month.

Edmundson has struggled for game time at Rangers this season, with Steven Gerrard’s men performing so well in the Scottish Premiership table.

The central defender could now slip even further down the pecking order, with Rangers linked with signing both Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh by the Scottish Sun.

Edmundson could, therefore, become available – and MacAnthony’s Peterborough side were previously interested in the 23-year-old before he moved to Ibrox.

However, it seems that the Rangers man will not be getting his move to the Posh any time in the immediate future.

It is questionable whether Posh need Edmundson right now, as they appear well stocked in defence.

The likes of Frankie Kent, Mark Beevers, Nathan Thompson, Ronnie Edwards and Niall Mason can all play in central defence for Darren Ferguson’s men.

Edmundson could still leave Rangers this month though, as he has played just one game all season.
