Steven Gerrard’s first January transfer window as the manager of Aston Villa didn’t disappoint.

The Villans were amongst the most active teams in England this month, and they added some real star-power to this side.

Villa signed players from the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Roma, and now, Gerrard has the task of deciding on his best XI.

The Midlands club are in a fantastic position right now. They have strength in depth in key areas, and with that in mind, we’ve had a go at picking their strongest XI after the January window.

Two of Villa’s January signings come straight into this team.

Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne have the potential to completely revitalise this team down the left, but perhaps what is most interesting in this side are two players we haven’t picked.

Danny Ings and Leon Bailey are two of the club’s most expensive signings ever, costing a combined £55m, but they don’t make it into this side such is the strength in depth Villa have right now.

Jacob Ramsey’s recent incredible performances have secured him a spot in the midfield, and while Arsenal showed interest in Douglas Luiz last month, he remains a key component of this side after Villa were able to hold onto the Brazilian.
