Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has given his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp’s situation at Liverpool in the aftermath of the failed launch of The Super League.
Klopp has previously been very open about the fact he’s not a big fan of the Super League format, speaking on the matter in 2019.
Ferdinand wasn’t happy with the fact that Klopp was made to speak to the media about it before the game on Monday evening while the club’s owners remained silent on the matter.
“The managers are having to do it, Klopp. You can understand he was so angry, it was out of order and he doesn’t agree with it. They never once asked him, a geezer who has brought success to that football club at Liverpool never seen in the Premier League era, got them to an unbelievable place and they don’t even consider him,” Ferdinand said.
“They didn’t even speak to him about their plans going forward, and then he has to go and face the media and answer questions, no wonder he’s annoyed. It’s out of order. No respect, no respect. People who are enhancing your investment as well, no respect for them.”

Ferdinand is spot on here.
Klopp has every right to be fuming with his bosses about what has gone on this week, and we wouldn’t blame him one bit for kicking off about it.
Klopp is the man responsible for Liverpool’s recent successes, not FSG and not John Henry, yet he wasn’t consulted about arguably the biggest decision in the club’s history.
As Ferdinand says, it’s a lack of respect, and we can understand any frustration Klopp may have.
