Brendan Rodgers has told the Robbie Fowler podcast that Liverpool would have won the Premier League title if they had Leicester City’s current defence.
Rodgers almost guided Liverpool to success in 2013/14, but just couldn’t quite get the Reds over the line.
Liverpool threw away a three-goal lead against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Anfield in the run-in.
And Rodgers now feels that Liverpool’s back-four just couldn’t quite be depended on as much as he can rely on Leicester’s defenders nowadays.
“If I had the back-four I had here then, we’d have won the league – no question. That’s what I would say,” he said.
“Because we didn’t have that, our team was very attacking and that was the strength of our team. We were very much a front-foot team.”
Liverpool had the likes of Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan starting in defence for them in those days.

Rodgers now has Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Perreira, James Justin, Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans to call upon though, giving the Foxes one of the most talented backlines in the Premier League.
Liverpool are actually thought to be looking at signing Soyuncu in the summer (Times), with Jurgen Klopp’s side on the look out for another central defender.
