Julian Nagelsmann told his post-match press conference that there was ‘no pressure’ from Thiago or Sadio Mane when Liverpool scored their opening goal last night.
The RB Leipzig coach stated that it was simply a ‘long ball’ from Liverpool, who pounced on a poor back pass from Marcel Sabitzer, and Mohamed Salah punished the German side.
Minutes later, it was the soon-to-be Bayern Munich-bound Dayot Upamecano who was falling flat on his backside, with Sadio Mane getting on the scoresheet this time around and providing Liverpool with a valuable advantage in this first-leg Champions League tie.
Nagelsmann shared his thoughts on how the first goal came about and suggested it was more of his own team shooting themselves in the foot.
“I didn’t see huge pressure in the first action in the first goal that we conceded,” said Nagelsmann
“There was no pressure or high pressure from Thiago and Mane. The same on Nordi Mukiele, there wasn’t too much pressure on him.
“It was a long ball from our opponents. We were in a good position and we should have just let the ball go and it was an action by Mukiele that wasn’t really necessary.”

Whilst Liverpool will be pleased with their performance, this tie is far from over, especially with the attacking quality Leipzig have in their squad and the defensive fragilities those in Red have showcased this term.
