According to Fussball Transfers, Arsenal are interested in the Borussia Dortmund defender, who could be made available for transfer.
Mikel Arteta’s side are thought to be looking to strengthen at the back for next term.
But Arsenal supporters don’t seem to feel that Akanji has the quality required to improve on their starting line-up.
Arsenal will be stronger at the back next year as William Saliba is due to arrive in the summer.
The Gunners have struggled to find a reliable defensive pairing all campaign.
Arsenal have used the likes of Pablo Mari, Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers at centre-back, but none of their current options have totally convinced yet.
And it seems likely that bringing in a new defender will be a priority of Arteta’s in the summer.
