Liverpool fans didn’t have much to cheer about on Saturday afternoon as they watched their side draw 1-1 away at Brighton, but one man whose performance they were happy with was Nathaniel Phillips.

The centre-back had a solid game at the back, limiting Brighton’s chances, and coming very close to keeping a clean sheet right up until the 93rd minute where a Pascal Gross penalty saw the Seagulls equalise.

Despite the late heartbreak, some optimistic Reds supporters took the chance to be positive about the defender’s performance, labelling him immense and incredible.

Phillips’ emergence has come at the perfect time for Jurgen Klopp, with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk ruled out for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully the youngster’s solid performances can continue throughout the season, as Liverpool will need their backup defenders to be at their best if they are to retain their Premier League title.

The Merseyside club may have failed to win at the Amex, but the fanbase at least had one thing to be happy about in the shape of Phillips.
