Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that İlkay Gündoğan limped out of training ahead of the Champions League final.

The update was covered by the Manchester Evening News, who wrote that the 30-year-old had to leave training following a clash with Fernandinho.

Gündoğan is said to have thrown himself at a cross when attempting a diving header, only to collide with the Brazilian on his way down.

Manchester City’s No.8 had to be helped to his feet, and was seen limping off the field as training came to a close.

It is currently unclear whether the issue will see Gündoğan miss Saturday’s huge encounter with Chelsea.

If it does rule him out, it will be a crushing blow for the Citizens, for Gündoğan, for Pep Guardiola and also the Manchester City supporters.

Gündoğan has been vital to Guardiola this term

The former Borussia Dortmund maestro has been phenomenal this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions as he enjoys the best form of his career.

The 44-cap Germany international’s late arrivals into the box – almost in the style of Frank Lampard – have been a key feature of Manchester City’s success this season.

It would be heartbreaking if he couldn’t.

Let’s see how the Manchester City fans on Twitter reacted after hearing the news…
