Manchester City are reportedly one of the clubs keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the Premier League champions are keeping their eyes on the 18-year-old midfielder. As well as City, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in Wirtz.
The teenager is one of the most exciting Bundesliga talents currently in the German top-flight. And this season has seen Wirtz explode onto the scene with the playmaker bagging four goals and four assists in all competitions.
With Leverkusen producing some sensational players over the years, Wirtz will likely be the next name to depart the German club in the coming years for a big club. And City could well be that destination.
However, on social media, most City supporters are not sold on the idea of signing Wirtz. After all, Pep Guardiola’s side have a plethora of midfielders on their books.
Moreover, City failed to sign a natural striker during the summer transfer window despite consistent links to Tottenham star Harry Kane. And fans are hoping this position will be filled in January.
City have impressed this campaign, but games this season against Southampton and PSG have highlighted the Manchester side’s need for a natural striker.
