Jeff Stelling joked that Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, could be headed to Salford after Gary Neville’s comments, but claimed that he wants a job that can ‘last more than six months’.

The Sky presenter was reacting to Neville’s claims where he suggested, if Arteta gets Arsenal to fourth, then he will feel his ‘job is done’ and will leave because he can’t take the club any further, as he told the Overlap.

Of course, such comments didn’t sit well with the Arsenal faithful because they are thriving with their young and ever-progressing squad.

The manner in which Arteta is re-building the north London club has to be applauded.

The same energy people used to criticise them last season should be used to praise them for their efforts this term.

But when Sky presenter Stelling was asked where Arteta could go that’s ‘bigger than Arsenal’, he pretended on Sky Sports to ring Neville whilst on-air and mention the League two club he co-owns.

“Hello, Gary. Where could he go? To Salford?! No, no, no! He wants a job where he can last more than six months. He’s going to kill me for that.”

Arsenal have a Monday night clash against Crystal Palace to deal with, who before the international break, held Manchester City to a goalless draw.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if one goal separates either side here, but the tough nature of this Champions League-chasing side is now going to be tested.

Tottenham moved into fourth place on Sunday after they thrashed Newcastle 5-1, so now it’s over to their neighbours to respond.

It’s all shaping up for a potential blockbuster and dramatic season-ending, which could see either north London duo, West Ham or Manchester United secure fourth.
