Claudio Vigorelli has given Liverpool a fresh boost in their reported transfer chase of Nicolo Zaniolo after telling Corriere dello Sport that Roma are yet to hold talks on a new contract.
The attacker has emerged at the heart of a storm of speculation regarding his future over recent weeks. He will enter the final two-years of his current deal with the Stadio Olimpico natives at the end of the season, having not extended his commitment since August 2019.
Giallorossi general manager Tiago Pinto also put Zaniolo’s future in Rome beyond this term in doubt earlier this month. He stated, via Football-Italia: “Nobody can guarantee that.”

Zaniolo has been a firm fixture of Jose Mourinho’s plans since the Portuguese took charge of the Serie A side. He has made 28 appearances in all competitions, while scoring four goals and five assists. However, he has also earned nine yellow cards and one straight red.
Reports by Calciomercato.it now suggest Roma are increasingly willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old this summer. The Giallorossi could accept €40m (£33.5m) for the eight-cap Italy international. They are also not in a hurry to hold talks over extending his contract yet.
Zaniolo’s uncertain future and a lack of talks with Roma over a new contract has Liverpool on alert for a potential transfer. Calciomercato cite the Reds, Atletico Madrid and Juventus as possible landing spots should the €2.5m-a-year (£40k-a/w) star leave Rome this summer.
Agent claims Roma yet to hold new Zaniolo contract talks amid Liverpool interest
Zaniolo’s agent, Vigorelli, has now handed Liverpool a fresh boost for their transfer interest after discussing Roma’s current contract position. He told Corriere dello Sport:
“Regarding a possible renewal and extension of Nicolo’s professional contract, I would like to say that at the moment there is no negotiation in this sense with the Giallorossi club.

“Nicolo is totally focused on finishing the current championship and the Conference League matches in the best way with the utmost commitment and the utmost determination.”
The winger helped Mourinho’s side top Group C in the Europa Conference League with one goal and two assists. Zaniolo only started two of his four outings, plus both qualifying ties.
