Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction at an announcement from the club yesterday.
The Gunners posted a tweet revealing that Gabriel Magalhães had won the Player of the Month award for the third month running.
That means the centre-back has won every possible Player of the Month award since arriving from LOSC Lille in a £23.14 million deal.
While that reflects well on the Brazilian, who has taken to life at the Emirates like a duck to water, it doesn’t reflect as well on the rest of the squad.
The question is: why is a defender of a struggling side winning three successive accolades, when the backline is still shipping goals?

Equally, Gabriel winning the award three times in a row suggests nobody else is performing to his level at Arsenal – where is the competition for the award?
It reflects terribly on the other stars within Mikel Arteta’s squad that they didn’t have a chance at winning this award.
A lot of Arsenal players must step up at we enter the New Year.

Gabriel won the award after keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, before keeping another clean sheet against Leeds.
Then, the 22-year-old couldn’t prevent Arsenal losing to Aston Villa and Wolves, although he did net a fine header in the latter defeat.
Let’s see how the Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to his third successive Player of the Month award…
