Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in anger after reading Gary Lineker’s tweet involving Joelinton and Joe Willock.
After the latter scored against Sheffield United, Lineker revealed that it was the sixth successive Premier League game in which he’d found the net.
However, he unnecessarily added that Willock’s haul is the same amount that Joelinton has scored across the last two seasons.
It didn’t take abusing one player for Lineker to be able to praise another.
Yes, everyone knows that Joelinton has struggled since his £40 million move from TSG Hoffenheim in July 2019.
In total, the Brazilian has scored ten goals in 80 appearances for the Magpies, meaning he scores once every ten games.
Obviously, that isn’t very good, but it is testament to Joelinton that he’s still going with his head held high.

Three of those ten goals have come in the last eight games, so there are some signs of improvement from the 24-year-old.
While he continues to do his best, comments like Lineker’s will do more to harm Joelinton’s hopes of success than boost them.

You can understand why the Newcastle fans are upset.
Let’s see what they’ve had to say about the BBC Match of the Day host’s tweet…
