Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has said that Dele Alli will not be playing against Liverpool this evening to Football London.

Alli has struggled for game time at Spurs and rumours continue to circle over his future at the North London club.

The attacking midfielder has been overlooked constantly, but Mourinho says that his omission tonight will be down to injury, rather than out of personal preference.

“No,” Mourinho said when asked whether Alli will be in Tottenham’s squad tomorrow. “He is injured.”

Alli’s injury has come at the worst possible time for him, as he had just earned public praise from Mourinho.

The Tottenham midfielder was hailed for his performance against Marine and seemed to be edging closer to earning more first-team opportunities, but injury has now struck and he hasn’t been seen in training for some time.

Alli may not have started for Spurs this evening even if he had been fit, especially with Tanguy Ndombele in such sparkling form, but he could have been a good option from the bench.

If Spurs can win later they will move above Liverpool and back into the top four.
