Aston Villa’s Michael Beale has silenced one Rangers supporter on Instagram with a cutting response.
Rangers fans will forever be upset with Steven Gerrard for quitting the Ibrox project to join Aston Villa in the Premier League in November.
Gerrard helped the Gers to a first Scottish Premiership title in a decade last season and, in the process, killed Celtic’s 10-in-a-row effort.
For some supporters, that is enough to preserve a positive legacy on the blue half of Glasgow, but others feel betrayed by his decision to join the Villans.
In doing so, Gerrard brought Gary McAllister and first-team coach Beale with him to Bodymoor Heath.
On Friday, Beale uploaded a photograph on Instagram of a family meal, with one Rangers supporter writing: “Bet you left halfway through dinner.”
But according to The Glasgow Evening Times, the former light Blues coach responded: “No mate. Left after one league defeat in 52 and an invincible season.
“Signing players for free or 50K or from League One that are now worth millions. All about opinions though isn’it it mate? Have a good Xmas – you don’t have a clue what went on.”
Brilliant beginning
Since Gerrard joined Aston Villa, the Midlands outfit have been absolutely brilliant.
They have won four of their first six Premier League games under the Liverpool icon, losing only to the Reds and Manchester City.
You can see why some Rangers fans will always be disappointed that the 41-year-old left, because he is clearly a young coach with an extremely bright future in football.
