Tom Lawrence is in a prime position to put Leeds United’s defence to the test tonight after missing out on facing them in his last encounter.

In the second half of last season Lawrence was the Championship’s form player, playing a starring role with Ipswich Town during a loan spell in which he scored nine goals and provided nine assists.

The match with Leeds came amid good form, but after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season he was suspended and missed the clash, which ended in a 1-1 draw, a stroke of good luck for the Whites.

Lawrence went on to sign for Derby County in the summer on a permanent deal which could rise to £7 million, the Mail reported.

Lawrence’s form at Derby has been less productive – he is yet to score for the Rams and has just two assists.

The winger has created only 16 chances in 10 games, but he has been particularly impressive in the last three games.

Lawrence has helped inspire Derby on a winning run since the international break, leading them to wins over Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City.

Leeds would be another big scalp for the Rams, and they will have to be wary of the Wales international.
