No luck for Malcom, should Arsenal hijack Tottenham attempts for Lucas Moura?

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been looking at Brazilian wingers.

Arsenal appear set to miss out on signing Brazilian winger Malcom, with Bordeaux keen to keep hold of him until the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger told SkySports that he believes a deal is unlikely, even though they are keen to strengthen following Alexis Sanchez’s imminent exit.

An alternative Arsenal could potentially secure instead is a player on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, Lucas Moura.

French newspaper L’Equipe report Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Lucas, although they prefer a loan instead of paying PSG’s asking price.

Telefoot claimed PSG could sell Lucas for £26 million – a small patch on the £45 million Bordeaux wanted for Malcom.

20-year-old Malcom may be the hot new name gathering attention, but Lucas Moura, 25, is more experienced and is a four time Ligue 1 winner.

Last season he scored 18 goals in all competitions, a figure Malcom is yet to halve this season so far (7).

Stopping their rivals getting stronger would only be part of the attraction for Arsenal, Lucas could be a replacement for Theo Walcott and upgrade on Alex Iwobi.

Available and keen to leave for a reasonable fee, the former Sao Paolo wonderkid could be an excellent addition.
