Jordan Henderson is on his way to Saudi Arabia to join Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and his imminent transfer has got a reaction from Don Hutchison and Roberto Firmino.

When Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided his trademark ‘Here We Go’ to Jordan Henderson’s three-year deal to the Saudi Pro League on Instagram, it was liked by Liverpool hero, Roberto Firmino.

Whilst former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison says there is ‘no loyalty’ in football ahead of the 33-year-old’s move, as he told ESPN.

When Henderson’s move to the Middle East is confirmed, he will work under Gerrard for the first time in his career and also play in the same league as Firmino.

The Brazil international left Liverpool this summer after his contract expired, but rather than move to another team in Europe, he decided to accept an offer from Saudi side, Al-Ahli.

Well, now they can add another Liverpool player to their ranks, as there is every chance Fabinho joins them, with Hutchison sharing his thoughts on the Henderson move.

“It’s some statement from the Saudis to be taking Liverpool’s captain,” said Hutchison. “I mean that’s a proper statement signing, along with all the other signings that they have made.

“There is no loyalty in football – there were no guarantees that Jordan Henderson would start for Liverpool this season. He might have been sitting on the bench all season or partly used.

“£12 million seems very cheap for him, by the way, if that’s the fee. They are going to miss him, in terms of his character, his leadership and captaincy inside the dressing room, as well as being on the pitch.

“He has had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp and it was probably Klopp not being able to guarantee him a place.”

Henderson at Liverpool next season

More than likely, his game time was going to reduce and it would have been interesting if that topic was part of his conversation with Klopp when discussing his future.

It’s understandable because the £140k-a-week star (Spotrac) did drop a level last season, but so did many of his teammates, hence why new faces have been brought in.

But if he now makes his expected exit, it brings an end to a career at Anfield that will see Henderson go down as a club legend and one of their greatest-ever captains.
