Arsenal are chasing Gianluca Scamacca and he has now been placed on the same level as Dusan Vlahovic by an Italian director.
The Gunners clearly need a new striker this summer even if Eddie Nketiah ends up signing a new contract.
Alexandre Lacazette has left the club to rejoin Lyon and it seems too soon to press Folarin Balogun or Mika Biereth into key roles.
Arsenal simply have to splash the cash on a new striker and the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison and Victor Osimhen have all been linked.
Yet Edu could instead look towards Italy for Arsenal’s new centre forward with Sassuolo star Scamacca believed to be a target.
Arsenal are chasing Gianluca Scamacca
90Min reported earlier this month that Edu is personally driving Arsenal’s interest in Scamacca.
That report claimed that Arsenal would have to pay £35million to sign Scamacca this summer.
The 6ft 5in centre forward is a proper target man figure – something Arsenal haven’t really had since the Olivier Giroud days.
Scamacca was a sensation in Serie A last season, racking up 16 goals in 36 games for Sassuolo.
The 23-year-old is big and physical but also has a great touch and can bring others into play.
That may be what Mikel Arteta is seeking in his attack; after all, Arsenal did chase Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.
Vlahovic, just like Scamacca, is a tall centre forward and there have now been comparisons made between the two.

Frosinone technical director Guido Angelozzi has been speaking about Scamacca having signed him for Sassuolo.
Angelozzi, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb, has suggested that Scamacca Is on the same level as Vlahovic even those there is less hype around the Italian.
Angelozzi noted that Scamacca may well leave Italy again having joined PSV Eindhoven as a kid, but believes he should cost a huge fee.
“I took him to Sassuolo when he was just a kid. For me he is a top striker, he is no less than Vlahovic. He scored 16 goals in a short time; there are no such strikers in Europe,” said Angelozzi.
“He already did it once, going to Holland when he was very young, then we were good at Sassuolo in bringing him back to Italy. Who will be better will take him away again. Surely it will cost a lot. He will be the future centre forward of the national team,” he added.
