Fabrizio Romano has reported that Antonio Conte has ‘no intention’ of quitting Tottenham Hotspur.
What a whirlwind last eight days it has been for the Italian manager at Tottenham.
First, he masterminded a stunning a 3-2 victory away to Premier League champions Manchester City.
Four days later, Spurs slumped to a fourth defeat in five outings by losing 1-0 at Burnley.
After that, Conte issued an explosive interview in which he almost invited chairman Daniel Levy to terminate his contract.
However, the Lilywhites bounced back in emphatic fashion by hammering Leeds United 4-0 in West Yorkshire this past weekend.
For now, the subject of Conte’s future seems relatively calm.
And Italian journalist Romano has revealed via his YouTube channel that the 52-year-old coach assured Levy in person that he has zero plans of walking out on the North London club.
Romano said: “I’m told that Daniel Levy wanted to discuss with Antonio, as Antonio wanted to discuss Daniel Levy about the general situation, about the general feeling. Antonio Conte told Daniel Levy he has no intention to leave the club immediately, to resign immediately – is something that Antonio doesn’t want to do, it’s not part of his story to leave during the season.”
Is Conte staying at Tottenham?
Yes and this, for obvious reasons, will be music to the ears of Tottenham supporters.
And it’s mainly because Conte is a world-class manager and losing him after four months would’ve been devastating for everyone associated with the Hotspur Way outfit.
It’ll be fascinating to see what Tottenham can achieve if the former Inter Milan and Chelsea coach is given a full summer window to shape the squad in his image – and he’s certainly made enough noise in recent weeks to receive financial backing by Levy.
