Glenn Hoddle has shared that Tottenham target, Adama Traore, has ‘proven’ that he isn’t a consistent player, as he told PL Productions (23/01/22 at 7:15 pm).

The Spurs legend questioned whether the Wolves winger is the man for Tottenham because he doesn’t know if he is the type of player that will make a ‘big difference’ to Antonio Conte’s side.

Italian journalist, Fabrizo Romano, has claimed on Twitter that Spurs are ‘confident’ of sealing a deal for the Wolves speedster before the close of the January transfer window.

Traore came off the bench during Wolves’ win at Brentford over the weekend, he had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

When the Spain international initially celebrated his goal, he wasn’t showing signs of a player that is heading for the club’s exit door.

But if he does swap the Midlands for London, then Hoddle has made his feelings on the player pretty clear.

“Traore is a player to get you off your seat and get you excited,” said Hoddle. “But is he consistent? No, he’s not. He has proven that.

“He could be fantastic one minute and then get you to the edge of your set, but he doesn’t get you off your seat. He is that sort of player.

“At times, he does get you off your seat. And you think, ‘he has cracked it’. I don’t know if that sort of player is going to make a big difference to Tottenham.

“I think it’s four or five players they need over a period of time and then they have a chance of competing.”

If Conte feels Traore is the man to boost their qualities, then he is worth listening to because he has a strong record in this department.

Whether it’s players that aren’t deemed good enough or players on the decline, Conte has throughout his career showcased that he can eek every bit of quality out of them.

And you could just see Traore turn into a consistent performer under the Italian if he transfers Wolves for Tottenham.

At this moment in time, nothing seems final, but Spurs have proven before under Daniel Levy that they are busy during the last few hours of the transfer window.
