The January transfer window is over, and Liverpool really didn’t do as much as they should have in the winter window.
They made an early addition in the shape of Cody Gakpo, but the Dutch attacker would prove to be the only new signing for the Reds last month.
Gakpo hasn’t pulled up any trees so far for the Reds so far, and it’s left us wondering what Liverpool’s strongest starting XI now looks like.
In our view, Liverpool’s best XI now looks something like this.

It’s been a quiet January transfer window for Liverpool, who only signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, but he has yet to make an impact in the team. Another recent addition, Darwin Nunez, also has not found his way into this XI after a shaky start to life on Merseyside.
Alisson Becker remains the number one choice in goal, as he has been one of the most consistent and reliable goalkeepers in the world.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, of course, retain their positions at right and left back, respectively.
The two full-backs have been a key part of Liverpool’s success in recent seasons, providing width and attacking threat from deep positions.
When everyone is fit, the heart of the defence is likely to be manned by Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip. Both have been the backbone of Liverpool’s defence, and the Dutch international, van Dijk, has been one of the best defenders in the world.
In the midfield, Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho will probably start the big games when they’re all fit.
Although the trio have struggled for form this season, with Liverpool not making any additions in the transfer window, there aren’t many other viable options for Jürgen Klopp.
Mohamed Salah starts down the right. He has been in fine form this season, scoring goals and creating opportunities for his teammates. Luis Diaz comes back into the fold on the left when he’s fit, while Roberto Firmino starts up front after his impressive start to the season.
This current Liverpool line up has proven their worth in the past, and although they may not be at their best this season, they have the potential to be successful, once again, if they find their best form.
