‘No fool’: Lee Dixon makes claim about Jesse Marsch’s future at Leeds United

Lee Dixon has claimed that Jesse Marsch is ‘no fool’ and he will be well aware that his manager’s job at Leeds United is now under threat.

The Arsenal legend added that Marsch needs to be ‘clever’ to try and work a way out of Leeds United’s current issues in the Premier League.

On Sunday, newly-promoted Fulham recorded a deserved 3-2 win at Elland Road, with fans booing their manager after the full-time whistle.

The American wasn’t the only one taking stick from the Leeds support, with chants of ‘sack the board’ also being rung around the stadium.

As things stand, the White are sitting in the Premier League’s relegation zone and they haven’t won a game since August when they beat Chelsea 3-0.

It has put Marsch, who replaced Marcelo Bielsa in the Leeds dugout in February, under serious pressure, as Dixon shared his thoughts, as he told Premier League Productions (23/10/22 at 7:15 pm).

“He is no fool and knows what’s coming,” said Dixon. “He will know. All he can say now is exactly what he said ‘I am doing everything I can and working really hard’. And he will work the players hard.

“You have to be clever as well. You have got to be shrewd and work out a way. It’s easier for us to be critical sitting here. But he’s going out on the training field, from Monday-Friday, trying to work a way to get results.

“The way they are playing, at the moment, with his high press and it’s not joined. None of them are holding the piece of rope. They have all let the piece of rope go. How many times did we see in breakaways with nobody in Leeds’ defensive half? They pushed up so high, from set-pieces, and people were just running through on goal.”

CHANGE ON THE CARDS?

When Leeds fans are chanting Bielsa’s name, then you know you are in trouble. His name isn’t just being chanted because he is a club legend, but because they don’t feel Marsch is an upgrade on him.

As things stand, he will be heading for the exit door, and with Liverpool up next, things could become messy.

Yes, Liverpool themselves aren’t in great form, they were beaten by Nottingham Forest over the weekend, but at Anfield, they have done the business.

And it wouldn’t be a surprise if they put a fair few goals past Leeds at the weekend because they are one-dimensional in their play, very open at the back and struggling to put their chances away.
