Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid losing 2-1 to Rangers in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.
It was none other than Steven Gerrard who provided the Ibrox crowd with a brilliant win and performance against the former Everton man.
Whilst Rangers supporters will be loving that win, the Everton fanbase couldn’t help but notice that there was only one shot on target from the Spanish giants.
Yes, fans need to be wary that this is a friendly, but it did remind them of Ancelotti’s days on Merseyside.
The Italian was Everton coach for around 18 months, and in truth, he didn’t exactly set the world alight and that’s including with his performances.
Plus, the manner in which he left for Madrid, which resulted in Rafa Benitez replacing him in the Goodison Park dugout, hasn’t exactly sat well with the supporters either.
But they weren’t surprised by the manner of the performance from Madrid as Gerrard continued to charge forward with his title-winning side ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign.
It’s going to be interesting how proceedings unfold at the Bernabeu next season because if things go wrong for Ancelotti then he won’t be in the job for too long.
Club legend or not. Trophy laden coach or not!
