Ezri Konsa told UMM’s official YouTube channel that there can be ‘no excuses’ from Liverpool about their 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa this season.
The £12 million defender (BBC Sport), who was on the pitch for the entire game as Villa shocked the world, shared that Liverpool had a ‘strong team’, as he name-checked the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez playing on that night.
It will, no doubt, go down as the shock result of the season that made a lot of people stand up, as Liverpool produced one of the worst performances in their recent history.
And Konsa shared that he couldn’t quite believe what was happening on the night, as he shared what he said to his teammates when the score was 6-2.
“It was crazy,” said Konsa. “There was a point when it was like 6-1 or 6-2 and we are celebrating and I was asking the lads ‘is this happening? Or am I dreaming?
“It wasn’t making sense. They had Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. They had their whole squad playing. No excuses. Strong team.
“So, for me, that will always stick in my head.”

Whilst Villa have been up and down since the turn of the year, a player like Konsa can hold his head up high because he has been a standout performer.
Whilst Tyrone Mings gets the England call from Gareth Southgate, many Villa fans feel it’s the former Brentford man, who should either be ahead of him or joining him at St George’s Park.
Even with UEFA extending the squad from 23 to 26, it does seem unlikely that Konsa will go to the Euros, but one thing is for sure, by the time the year is up, he might just be another Villa playing representing his country.
