Jose Enrique has backed the idea of Liverpool signing England and Roma striker, Tammy Abraham, this summer if Sadio Mane leaves.
The former left-back made it clear on his Instagram story that Darwin Nunez would still be ‘the best option’ for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But with Mane increasingly looking likely to leave Anfield this summer, it means those on Merseyside have to find a replacement.
Many names have been thrown about, including Benfica hitman, Nunez, who faced and scored against the Reds in the Champions League this season.
Another player mentioned is Roma’s £34 million striker (Sky Sports), Abraham, and even though Chelsea sold the Englishman, Enrique said it’s ‘no excuse’ for Liverpool not to sign him.
“Salah wasn’t great for Chelsea,” said Enrique. “But now for many years, he has been one of the best players in the world.
“I don’t mean he (Tammy Abraham) is or will be of the best. But that’s no excuse to not sign him.
“Even saying that, I will go for Darwin Nunez as the best option, in my opinion.”

CHELSEA TO ROMA TO LIVERPOOL…IT’S HAPPENED BEFORE
If the Reds were to push for Abraham, then he would be going down the same road a certain Mo Salah has taken during his career.
Abraham scored the most goal by an Englishman in Rome this season and also helped Jose Mourinho’s side win the Europa Conference League.
Even though Chelsea let the player go, he wasn’t treated with the greatest of respect and did much better than what might be suggested.
In his first full season in Chelsea colours, he scored 15 Premier League goals, with Frank Lampard in his first season, a young squad, that had just lost Eden Hazard and also had a transfer ban.
During the following campaign, the West London club decided to replace Abraham with Timo Werner, who has since proven that he can’t hit a barn door, so Abraham is proving them wrong, in that respect.
