David Moyes has been speaking to the media ahead of West Ham’s clash with Manchester City tomorrow afternoon, and Manuel Lanzini’s name was mentioned.
When asked about the Argentina international, West Ham’s official site quote Moyes as saying: ‘No doubt the injury has had an impact on where he is but I don’t see a reason why he can’t get back to that level.’
It’s no surprise that Lanzini – who earns £70,000-a-week according to Spotrac – had been affected by the severe injury, as well as others.
Back in 2018, just before he was set to line up alongside Lionel Messi at the World Cup, the 27-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, as reported by The Guardian.
Since recovering from that horrific ordeal, it has been a bumpy road to recovery for the diminutive playmaker.

He suffered another two months on the sidelines after fracturing his collarbone in December, in which time the likes of Jarrod Bowen arrived and Pablo Fornals started to make his name in an attacking midfield role.
Things have been tough for Lanzini, so to see him rifle that last-gasp screamer in against Tottenham was pleasing, whether you support West Ham or not.

The Ituzaingó-born attacker is starting to rediscover his mojo, having also registered two assists in just three Carabao Cup games this season as well.
For Lanzini’s sake, as well as West Ham’s, let’s just hope he can stay out of the physio room for a while.
