Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson and his place in the England set-up.
Henderson was somewhat controversially included in England’s Euros squad despite the questions over his fitness towards the end of the season.
Ferdinand believes that Henderson is a starter when he’s fully-fit due to the experience and grit he brings to the side.
What’s been said?
Ferdinand’s co-host, somewhat ridiculously, suggested that Henderson was England’s worst midfielder in the recent friendly against Romania, and Ferdinand had an issue with that suggestion.
“The worst? A fit Henderson starts in the England team, no doubt in my mind. Just because of his presence, his experience, and just because we have a lot of young players in this squad. You need experience in these teams as well. You need a bit of guile, people who have been around the block a little bit, and he’s one of them,” Ferdinand said.

Key player
Jordan Henderson would be arguably England’s most important player if he was fully-fit.
Now, we’re not saying that he’s England’s best player, but the reality is that Henderson brings a level of leadership and balance into that midfield that very few players can.
The Liverpool skipper is exactly the type of player you want on the pitch in the important moments of an international tournament, and luckily, England have that option.
Of course, his fitness may hamper his ability to start in these games, but we can only hope that it doesn’t prove to be too much of an issue.
