Arsenal may have lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Wednesday evening, but the Gunners gave the Reds a real run for their money.
Indeed, the London club had a number of great chances against Liverpool, they pressed high and attacked with intent.
Unfortunately though, Alisson Becker had a stormer and Arsenal came away with nothing.
However, despite a 2-0 defeat, Gary Lineker was left impressed by the north London outfit, and he stated that the club are definitely going in the right direction under Arteta.
As cynical as ever, Piers Morgan inevitably disagreed with Lineker’s view, but the Match of the Day pundit quickly dismantled Morgan’s pessimism.
While Wednesday’s result was a disappointing one for Arsenal, Lineker is absolutely right about the future of the club.
Mikel Arteta’s side have improved so much since last season, and their young crop will only keep getting better.
Just look at someone like Gabriel Martinelli, the Brazilian was nothing but a fringe player last term, but on Wednesday, he showed just how good he is. He turned Alexander-Arnold inside out on a number of occasions and looked like a bona fide Premier League star.
If Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe can continue to improve, Arsenal will continue to move up in the footballing world.
