Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has ruled out a move for Croatian World Cup hero Dominik Livakovic amid reported interest from Premier League outfit Leeds United, speaking to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
If Andrej Kramaric was the star of the show during Croatia’s 4-1 thumping of Canada in the group-stage, if the 0-0 draw with Belgium with Josko Gvardiol’s time to shine, then the knockout rounds arguably belong to Dominik Livakovic.
Livakovic saved three of Japan’s penalties during a rather straightforward shoot-out in the last-16. And he was at it again as Croatia sent pre-tournament favourites Brazil packing on Friday; outstanding both from open play and from 12 yards.

“The man who stopped Brazil will be a hero to me!,” quips Kahn, who’s German side were beaten by Ronaldo’s Brazil in the final of the 2002 World Cup. “It’s very personal!
“Of course, Livakovic is worthy of praise. Such a goalkeeper must play in a top club. I have no doubt that this will be the case next season.”
Leeds United and Bayern Munich linked with Croatia’s World Cup hero Dominik Livakovic
Livakovic has spent the last seven years at Dinamo Zagreb, winning five Croatian league titles. According to Made in Foot, Leeds United have identified the 27-year-old as a replacement for the much-admired Illan Meslier. The Whites have already contacted Livakovic’s agents regarding a potential move to West Yorkshire. The 39-cap international is likely to cost a minimum of £9 million.
Per The Athletic, Manchester United and Leicester City were also mentioned in conjunction with Livakovic over the summer. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, offered £5 million before signing Dean Henderson instead.
One club Livakovic will not end up at, however, is Bayern Munich. Kahn, the Bundesliga champions’ CEO, insists that, while he is an admirer of the 6ft 2ins shot-stopper, there is no offer on the way from the Allianz Arena.
“He is not within the scope of our interests,” Kahn says.
Bayern, per L’Equipe, could look to recall Alexander Nubel from Monaco instead after losing Manuel Neuer to a broken leg.
