Arsenal have completed the signing of striker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City with an announcement on Monday morning – and Ally McCoist believes the Brazilian is a good signing and immediately improves the Gunners.

Jesus, 25, has completed a £45million (Athletic) move to Arsenal – signing a long-term deal in North London. It comes after he had entered the final 12 months of his contract at The Etihad, and the signing of Erling Haaland.

A player that already has 56 caps for Brazil, and 285 appearances at club level. He has 21 goals in 52 for Palmeiras and 95 in 236 for Manchester City. Remarkable stats, even more so given he only started 151 of those City games.

Scottish legend McCoist was asked about the signing of Jesus on TalkSPORT on Monday morning (9:35AM). He responded by saying that Jesus immediately improves Arsenal, but they were right to keep Eddie Nketiah.

“I agree with you, I think he’s a great signing for Arsenal. A lot of Arsenal fans felt that position needed strengthening. I think Nketiah was right to stay,” McCoist told TalkSPORT.

“I think he can become a 20-goal-a-season striker. Jesus has that ability now. He fits into the way Arsenal play, and he is a good age. He is building, Arteta. No doubt, in my opinion, he will improve Arsenal.”

McCoist: Jesus is a good signing for Arsenal

It is a superb signing for Arsenal. What they are getting for £45million, in the midst of Tottenham spending £60million on Richarlison, is a player that scores a goal pretty much every other game.

Arsenal have been signing players that have experience, but between the ages of 20 and 25. Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel, Ben White, Martin Odegaard and more. Jesus is another example of that.

A stunning addition for Arsenal – but one that was crucially needed in Arsenal’s pursuit of the Europa League trophy and a place in the top four. Jesus will give Arsenal the goals they need to reach that.
