Alan Shearer has stated that there is ‘no doubt’ Arsenal need a ‘top-class’ centre-forward during the transfer window.
But the legendary striker warned that their task to secure that type of player this summer will be ‘difficult’ after Tottenham took advantage in the race for the Champions League.
If Spurs earn a point at Norwich City on the final day of the Premier League season against Norwich City, then they have secured fourth.
It will be a kick in the teeth to their rivals, who thought they had it in the bag a few weeks ago.
But Shearer warned how this could trouble them in the transfer market when it re-opens in the summer, as he told Premier League Productions.
“You are talking about a different calibre of player,” said Shearer. “Who you want to bring into your football club.
“Arsenal need a top-class forward. There’s no doubt about that.
“It would have been a lot easier to attract one of those playing Champions League football, then it is playing on Thursday nights in the Europa League.
“So, that makes it difficult for them as well.”

ARSENAL NEED PROVEN STARS IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW
Mikel Arteta and co. have refreshed this Arsenal squad, bringing through or signing younger/inexperienced players.
But now it’s time to dip for some more familiar faces and those who have a proven record in Europe.
The issue facing Arsenal is that the elite players want Champions League football and that’s not headed their way.
So, this forthcoming window is going to be even more crucial for those in the Emirates boardroom because they will find a few players turning away when they knock on their door now.
