Darren Bent has backed Everton to sign sought-after forward Joshua King ahead of West Ham, as he told TalkSport (11/10/20 at 3:40 pm).
The former Premier League striker thinks King would want a piece of the action at Goodison Park over signing for the East London club because of the start Everton have made to the new campaign.
Sky Sports have previously linked both the Toffees and the Hammers to King’s signature, with the domestic EFL window due to slam shut on Friday.
Bent shared why he thinks Everton could be the place for King, as he made it clear that he means ‘no disrespect’ to West Ham.
“If Calvert-Lewin was to go down then you do need strength in depth,” Bent told TalkSport. “And Joshua King has shown that he can score goals.
“I really like his ability as well. He is probably going to look at that Everton situation and go ‘I like a bit of that’. No disrespect to West Ham. But they have had two unbelievable performances.
“But Everton are absolutely flying. He will probably look at that and go ‘I want a bit of that’.”
King would be a very useful addition at Everton, who have won every game so far this season and are sitting top of the Premier League table.
The problem that West Ham face is that Everton have the pulling power, because of their league position, and financial power to entice the versatile attacker towards Merseyside rather than London.
Plus, those in the West Ham boardroom haven’t exactly set the world alight during this summer transfer window, whilst Carlo Ancelotti has been backed and it’s paying off, thus far.
