Speaking on Ben and Kammy’s Proper Football Podcast, Sean Dyche has been lavishing praise upon Pep Guardiola due to his man-management abilities.
The Manchester City manager, alongside Jurgen Klopp, has long been considered the greatest tactician in modern football, but Dyche has praised Pep for his ability to work with his players on a personal level.
Manchester City’s squad is star-studded to say the least with some of the most famous and marketable footballers on the planet in the squad, but somehow, there never seems to be any issues with egos within the dressing room, and that’s down to Guardiola.
While Dyche was willing to praise Klopp as well, he says that he respects Pep more than any other manager due to his ability to manage his players on that secondary level.

Pep the master
Dyche spoke incredibly highly of the Manchester City boss
“The biggest respect I have, particularly for Pep, no disrespect to Jurgen Klopp because he’s done an amazing job as well, but with Pep it’s like managing 25 companies, that’s not just 25 players, it’s 25 mini companies with brands, agents and PR representatives, it’s like a mini company. It’s not tactics, it’s about managing people and he’s done it exceptionally well,” Dyche said.
More than just footballers
Dyche is absolutely right, this is such an underrated aspect of football management, and Pep has seemingly mastered it.
These players, especially at a club like Manchester City, are more than just footballers. They’re celebrities, brand ambassadors, influencers, activists and more, every aspect of their lives needs managing in order to get the best out of them on the pitch, and Guardiola is somehow able to do that.
The Spaniard clearly commands the respect of his players in a way not many gaffers can, and while Klopp clearly does the same at Liverpool, there is more of an element of stardom amongst the City squad due to the calibre of players they’ve been signing in recent years and where they come from.
