‘No disrespect’: Sky pundit claims no chance 50-year-old takes Leeds job if Marsch is sacked

Clinton Morrison has stated ‘no disrespect’ but there isn’t a chance that Mauricio Pochettino takes the Leeds United manager’s job if Jesse Marsch is sacked.

The former Crystal Palace striker thinks Pochettino is ‘looking for a top-six job’ and added that ‘there was talk of Aston Villa’, prior to the Midlands outfit appointing Unai Emery as their new Head Coach.

Several teams down the bottom have already parted ways with their manager, most recently Aston Villa when they booted Steven Gerrard out of the door.

Villa didn’t waste any time bringing in a replacement, with the trophy-laden Unai Emery swapping Villarreal colours for the Premier League outfit – Jamie Carragher praised the appointment.

Perhaps if fans see other teams sacking managers and bringing in ambitious replacements, then it increases the volume of wanting their own manager out.

Marsch is finding that the pressure is mounting on him with no win since August for Leeds in the Premier League, but Morrison can’t see Pochettino being the guy to come in if he leaves, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (25/10/22 at 7:15 pm).

“Pochettino ain’t going to Leeds,” said Morrison. “No disrespect. I don’t think Pochettino wants that.”

Jeff Stelling then responded: “They are a big club.” to which Morrison added: “They are a big club. I don’t think Pochettino because, there was talk of Aston Villa, I think Pochettino wants to manage a top-six team.”

POCHETTINO TO A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CLUB?

The former Tottenham boss does divide opinion on whether he is an elite coach or capable of taking a job at the biggest of clubs and winning numerous trophies.

At PSG, he worked with some of the best around, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar and won the trophies that were expected of him.

But could he take a job at Juventus, for instance, and help the struggling Turin-based side turn themselves around and become kings of a very competitive Serie A again? Thierry Henry doesn’t think Max Allegri should be sacked as pressure mounts on the legendary coach.

In truth, Pochettino’s next job should be at a Champions League club, and with Juventus getting knocked out of the Champions League recently, as well as sitting eighth in Serie A, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is being linked.
