Speaking on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand has been full of praise for Alisson Becker and the impact he’s had since joining Liverpool.

The Reds were a brilliant side before Alisson arrived, boasting talents such as Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, but it’s fair to say that the goalkeeper was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Indeed, Alisson has transformed Liverpool from being a good team to being one of the best, and Ferdinand has been blown away by the goalie, stating that he’s been a big factor in the Reds winning silverware in recent years.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand gave his verdict on Alisson.

“I think a big factor in getting your hands on the silverware is the goalkeeper, having that confidence and that commanding figure behind you. No disrespect to the keepers that had been playing before him, but this is a world-class operator,” Ferdinand said.

Transformative

Alisson has been a transformative signing at Liverpool.

The Brazilian is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, but it’s his calmness on the ball that truly makes him stand out.

His ability to read the game and play out from the back allows Liverpool to play the way they do, and the Reds have truly perfected their style now.

Liverpool started winning silverware after Alisson’s arrival, and that’s no coincidence.

The goalkeeper is one of the best in the world, and it’s fair to say that the Reds are very lucky to have him.
