Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has provided an update on his injury.

The striker picked up an ankle problem against Manchester United a few months ago now, and he’s still not returned to action.

Unfortunately, the attacker doesn’t actually know when he’ll play for Newcastle again. He states that his recovery is moving slowly and that there’s no definite timeframe on his recovery.

What’s Wilson said?

The striker responded when asked about his injury.

“It’s going well thanks. It is moving slow, you know how it is, you can’t rush the process really, and yeah, at the moment I’m just trying to tick all the boxes and do everything I can to get back as soon as I can, but at the minute, there’s no definite timeframe as to when I’ll be back, but I’m working hard in the gym,” Wilson said.

Slow and steady

It’s frustrating to hear that Wilson doesn’t know when he’ll be back, but you simply can’t rush these things.

Injuries, especially to the ligaments, are tricky things to manage. There’s a reason why the top physios in the country have spent years mastering their craft, and while Wilson will be tempted to rush back, if he does, he could only exacerbate things.

Luckily, Newcastle managed to sign Chris Wood last month, so there is adequate cover up front, but Newcastle will want Wilson back sooner rather than later.
