Birmingham pull out of deal for Bristol City’s Aden Flint leaving Leeds in the perfect position to sign him.
Leeds United could have been given the green light to complete a deal for Bristol City’s Aden Flint after Harry Redknapp reveals Birmingham City are no longer in for the defender.
Flint has not played for the Robins since the first game of the season having been left out of the squad to face Plymouth Argyle in EFL Cup and then Birmingham in the Championship at the weekend.
Tomer Hemed of Brighton and Hove Albion shakes hands with Aden Flint of Bristol City.
This was after manager Lee Johnson told BBC Bristol that “two solo bids” from the Blues had been rejected for the 28-year-old, but that he could be sold “at the right price”.
Now Redknapp has stepped away from the deal, telling the Birmingham Mail: “(Aston Villa’s Tommy Elphick and Flint) are good players but there’s nothing in them.
“We’re not close to getting any player at the moment as the fees are too high.”
At the time, Redknapp was the favourite to land the former Swindon Town man, but this latest development could leave the Whites with the perfect opportunity to swoop in.
The Yorkshire side are looking for defensive support for Liam Cooper, Pontus Jansson and Everton loanee Matthew Pennington, although exactly how much Flint would cost is unknown.
