Norrkoping are not in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers regarding a £5.5 million move to the Premier League for Isak Bergmann Johannesson, club chief Patrik Jonsson tells NT, translated by Fotboll Skanalen.

It’s remarkable to think that Pedro Neto, Bruno Jordao, Fabio Silva and Ki-Jana Hoever had played just 22 league games between them before arriving at Molineux for a combined £67 million.

Clearly, Wolves have no qualms about investing sizable sums in unproven youngsters.

And Bergmann, perhaps the most exciting young footballer in the whole of Scandanavia right now, feels very much like the trademark Wolverhampton Wanderers signing.

At the age of just 18, the twinkle-toed attacking midfielder produced four goals and 12 assists during his debut Allsvenskan campaign, sending scouts into a frenzy with his wonderful vision and match-winning capabilities.

Stig Torbjornsen, Norrkoping’s chief scout, claimed back in October that Liverpool had sent scouts to watch Bergmann in action, with Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid all reported to be interested.

Expressen, meanwhile, stated on Monday that Wolves have now opened talks over a deal that would see the Birmingham-born wonderkid return to the Midlands in a £5.5 million deal.

But, according to Jonsson, those reports are wide of the mark.

“No, there are no ongoing negotiations,” the Norrkoping chief said when asked about Wolves’ alleged interest before admitting that Bergmann could leave if the right offer arrives.

“Of course, we want to play with the best players and keep as many of them as possible. But we realise that there may be interest in some of them and then you have to consider letting them go in such circumstances if it is for the right price and the players themselves want (to go).

“There is nothing I want to comment on in more detail. There is nothing I know as I said.”

Wolves might not have opened talks just yet but that could soon change.
