Paul Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:21pm, January 16, 2021) that he does not think that Dele Alli has a future at Tottenham Hotspur as long as Jose Mourinho is the head coach.
The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that midfielder Alli is unlikely to play much at Spurs as long as Mourinho remains in charge.
Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:21pm, January 16, 2021): “If I am Dele Alli, I think I have no chance anyway. As long as Mourinho is the manager of this club, I am not playing.”

Alli is struggling for playing time at Spurs at the moment and has been linked with a move away from the North London club.
FootMercato reported this month that Paris Saint-Germain wants to sign the 24-year-old in the January transfer window, and that the midfielder himself is keen a move to the Ligue 1 outfit and work under his former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
According to WhoScored, Alli has made one start and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.
Tottenham Hotspur exit in January?
It is clear that Tottenham boss Mourinho does not consider Alli a key figure in his team.
It would make sense for the 24-year-old to find a new club, at least for the second half of the season, where he could play regular first-team football.
It remains to be seen if Spurs would be open to offers for Alli – who cost them £5 million in transfer fees when they signed him from MK Dons in 2015, as reported by BBC Sport.
