Paul Merson has stated that there is ‘no chance’ Leeds United will get relegated this season, as he told Sky Sports.

The former title-winning player stated that he loves watching Leeds play because you are going to get an ‘action-packed’ game, but he thinks that’s a problem for the club when they aren’t winning matches.

Well, at this moment in time, Leeds aren’t winning games and they are more like an amateur boxer being thrown straight into a ring to face a seasoned professional.

After conceding seven goals to Manchester City last week, Leeds responded by shipping another four against Arsenal over the weekend.

All the signs aren’t good, at this moment in time, and there aren’t many positive vibes coming from Elland Road, especially with their injury problems.

But Leeds fans will love what Merson has had to say because, amid all the doom and gloom, he is backing them to surge forward and get their engine going again.

“I don’t see Leeds going down,” said Merson. “No chance, they have key personnel returning from injury fairly soon, it’ll be down to them to turn this around.

“My biggest concern with Leeds is that I love watching them play but that’s no good.

“I’m a neutral, I love watching them, you just know you’re going to get an action-packed football match. But that is not good, especially when you are not winning football matches.”

Many are calling for Bielsa to change his ways, so Leeds can feed some positive energy back into their play and get some points on the board.

But Bielsa has much as a chance of changing his methods as the Grinch has in liking Christmas.

There’s no way it’s going to happen and it needs to remember that, for the majority of the time, it has worked.

Either way, it’s not going to get any easier on Boxing Day because it’s only a small matter of having to travel down to Merseyside to take on Liverpool.
