Darren Bent has brushed off any ideas on talkSPORT that Ben Davies should play at centre-back for Tottenham amid their troubles at the back.
Whilst Jurgen Klopp has been chopping and changing his defensive unit on Merseyside because of injuries, his rival over in London has been doing it because of the lack of quality at Tottenham.
Eric Dier is still trying to convince everyone he is a centre-back, Toby Alderweireld is past his best, Davinson Sanchez isn’t living up to his big-money price tag, whilst Japhet Tangnaga and Joe Rodon are youngsters.
All in all, it has resulted in Mourinho having to deal with quite a mess at centre-back, as Bent shared his thoughts on those positions.
“Defensively they need to add one or two more additions to make them a lot stronger and a better unit,” said Bent. “Defensively right now, they aren’t good enough.
“I like Reguilon. I think he’s a good player. I like Doherty. But the centre-backs, he cannot seem to find the right pairing.
“Even Sanchez has made mistake after mistake. Eric Dier, I think he trusts him. But he lacks pace.
On left-back Ben Davies playing centre-back after Jamie O’Hara’s suggestion: “That’s a bad shout. I wouldn’t put him in there. No chance.”

Davies could potentially operate in a back three for Spurs, but not a flat back four.
Mourinho is papering over some serious cracks in Tottenham’s defence, but if he delivers a trophy and European football at the end of it then no-one in North London is going to throw up a fuss.
More than likely, they will progress through to the next round of the Europa League today, which will provide Mourinho and Co. with a much-needed confidence boost.
