Chris Sutton has praised the emphatic nature in which Tottenham striker Harry Kane took his penalty against Marc-Andre ter Stergen during England’s 3-3 draw against Germany on Monday night at Wembley.
The title-winning player with Blackburn shared that Kane gave the Barcelona star ‘absolutely no chance’ to save his spot-kick and ‘three goalkeepers wouldn’t have saved that’, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
At the time, it was a big pressure penalty for Kane because the scores were level at 2-2, before Jude Bellingham was fouled in the area, and after a VAR check, Kane stepped up to help his side to lead 3-2, despite being 2-0 down.

But the crazy nature of the dead-rubber UEFA Nations League game just didn’t stop because Kai Havertz, who had earlier scored a brilliant curling effort, pounced on a mistake by Nick Pope to seal the cherry on the cake of a six-goal thriller.
That penalty from Kane was his 51st goal for his country, his third in the UEFA Nations League, as he edges closer to breaking Wayne Rooney’s all-time record.
Nonetheless, this is how Sutton reacted to Kane’s pressure penalty yesterday, which helped force the noise more on the positive side, rather than the negative coverage that has been produced of late.
“What a penalty this is,” said Sutton. “Harry Kane, he whips the ball into the top corner. He goes across ter Stegen, who has absolutely no chance. Three goalkeepers wouldn’t have saved that. It’s a brilliant penalty.”

HARRY KANE TO BREAK ENGLAND’S GOALSCORING RECORD AT THE 2022 WORLD CUP
It has just taken Kane a remarkable 75 games to score 51 goals for his country and now he is three away from breaking Rooney’s all-time record.
The Manchester United legend scored 53 goals from 120 matches, so it’s even more impressive how easy Kane has made this all look.
If the Spurs star can earn 100+ caps for his country, then he can well and truly obliterate this record and write his name further into England’s legendary books.
But, for now, it would be quite impressive if Kane could become England’s highest goal-getter at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
