Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad Podcast that there is ‘no chance’ Arsenal are signing Aaron Ramsdale.

The Arsenal legend doesn’t think the club will play the rumoured fee for the 23-year-old this summer.

It has been suggested that Arsenal are set to submit a third bid for the English goalkeeper and Sheffield United want upward of £30 million for his talents.

Given those rumours, Campbell shared that there is ‘no chance’ that Ramsdale will be landing on their doorstep.

“I can’t see Arsenal paying £30 million for a back-up goalkeeper,” said Campbell. “Not in a month of Sunday’s. No chance.

“You can pay £30 million for a goalkeeper. But £30 million is a bit too heavy. I don’t think we are going for Ramsdale. I don’t honestly think that.

“What makes me say this is that there are better keepers out there that are cheaper.

“I don’t think it’s real. I don’t think Arsenal will spend £30 million on him. Listen, I might be wrong.”

Surely if Arsenal are going to pay put so much money not the table for a goalkeeper then he’s coming in as your number one and not a back-up.

Mikel Arteta still has Bernd Leno as his main guy in between the sticks, but the German has seen question marks raised over his future this summer.

There’s no doubt that the Gunners need a new shot-stopper, but do they push for a number two and keep Leno as the number one?

Or should the new face walking through their doors be handed that main spot from the get-go?
