Newcastle United fans have suggested that a move for Troy Deeney makes a lot of sense.
The Chronicle claim that Watford have offered Deeney to Newcastle, as they look to get his wages off their books following relegation.
At 32 Deeney would only be a short term fix to Newcastle’s goalscoring problems.
But there are plenty of Magpies fans who would like to see him signed.
Deeney scored 10 goals last term, which is comfortably more than any Newcastle striker managed.
He would offer the an aerial presence, but whether he is a significant upgrade on a fully fit Andy Carroll is up for debate.
Deeney would at least fit into Newcastle’s transfer plans this summer, as he looks cheap.
Steve Bruce only has a limited budget to spend, and Deeney could present a solid value for money option.
