Kieron Dyer has urged Ainsley Maitland-Niles to stay at Arsenal as his future at the club remains up in the air.
The former Premier League winger told BBC Radio 5 Live that it’s a ‘no-brainer’ for the versatile player to stay because he’s playing for a team that is now ‘going places’.
The Gunners have won the FA Cup, and most recently, the Community Shield under Mikel Arteta, with Maitland-Niles arguably being the best player from those two games.
Anything can happen in the transfer market and Dyer was asked what he would advise Maitland-Niles to do in regards to his current future, as he issued this response.
“Well, obviously he wants to play regular football,” Dyer told BBC Radio 5 Live. “With all this speculation and has Arteta told him ‘When I get everybody fit, you’re not going to be in my starting XI?’
“But the way he played in the Charity Sheild. I know there was the Wolves interest. The way he played, I would say it’s a no-brainer to stay at Arsenal. They are a team who seem to be well-coached now. They won the FA Cup and are going places.
Arsenal’s record transfer deals

- Thomas Partey

- Mesut Ozil

“I would take the time. The transfer window doesn’t close until October. I would see how the season pans out. Like I said, he was probably Arsenal’s best performer on the day [at Wembley].
“Just sit and hold tight then as the season develops if you are not in the team then maybe you look to go out. He is now in the England squad and there’s going to be a number of clubs who would take him on as a player.”
The Express did previously claim that Wolves plan to put in a bid for Maitland-Niles, as they now need a right-back following the departure of Matt Doherty to Tottenham.

But after Arsenal were victorious against Liverpool over the weekend, Arteta stated that Maitland-Niles needs to ‘convince’ him that he is capable of producing the goods on a regular basis and, at this current moment, he is proving he ‘can do it’, as quoted by Goal.
It’s all uncertain with Maitland-Niles and if it’s leaning towards any direction then it’s him staying in North London, which will no doubt please the Arsenal faithful.
