Alan Hutton has stated that it’s a ‘no-brainer’ for Rangers to hand Scott Arfield a new contract.
The 33-year-old came off the bench on Sunday to help Rangers record a Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic by scoring the equalising goal that took the tie to extra-time.
Arfield’s current contract at Ibrox is due to expire in the summer, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst set to make a big call on the midfielder’s future.
A player like Arfield’s experience can be invaluable, as he proved against Celtic over the weekend.
But, for someone like Hutton, it’s obvious for him that Arfield has to be handed a new deal, as he told Premier Sports.
“Of course,” said Hutton. “He knows what it’s all about to play for Rangers. He thrives under that pressure.
“It’s a no-brainer for me to give him another year. Look what he put into (the Celtic game).
“Not happy to be on the bench, of course, but he come off with that sort of performance.”

Given that there is a new manager in the dugout, following Steven Gerrard’s exit back in November.
The Gers fans might find that there are more changes than expected because Van Bronckhorst will want to do his things his way and set his own blueprint in the summer.
Of course, a lot of that will also depend on what happens from now until the end of the season, with the Premiership title seemingly heading back to Celtic.
But, if things go right for Rangers, then they might end the season with the Scottish Cup and possibly even better, the Europa League in hand.
