Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has suggested that a move to Liverpool never actually appealed to him on ESPN.

Saka was linked with a move to Liverpool in the Daily Mail at a stage when his Arsenal contract was running down.

The youngster, who was hailed as ‘amazing’ by Freddie Ljungberg (official website), has since penned a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium.

And he says that he never had any doubt Arsenal was the club best suited to him, despite the links to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“No, for me it was just to think about what’s best for my career and I felt what was best for my career was to continue playing with Arsenal,” Saka said, when asked if he ever thought about leaving Arsenal after the transfer links. “I always believed Arsenal was the best thing.”

Saka’s loyalty to Arsenal is only likely to endear himself to the Emirates Stadium crowd even more.

The teenager could easily have had his head turned by the links to Liverpool, who had just won the Premier League title at the stage when they were first linked.

There is no doubting that Saka could have made an exciting capture for Liverpool.

But his future may well be best served by staying at Arsenal, where he is so loved and trusted.

The youngster has broken into Mikel Arteta’s side and already become a key player despite his tender years.

And rather than risk having to battle it out for a spot at Liverpool, Saka has likely made the right choice by sticking it out at Arsenal, where he is developing at an eye catching rate.
