Bournemouth have stunned Chelsea with an eleventh-hour bid for defender Nathan Ake, with Eddie Howe’s men keen to be reunited with their former loan player.
The Independent reports that The Cherries have tabled a late £18 million move for the 21 year old, who spent the last six months on loan at the Vitality Stadium. The move however appears to be in vain.

With Ake left out of the match-day squad to face Liverpool at Anfield, the defender will now consider his options before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm.
Following on from the news that the south coast club were set to be frustrated in a deadline day move for the Dutchman by The Daily Mail, events have accelerated on Tuesday afternoon.

Nathan Ake became a vital part in Bournemouth’s versatile setup since October having broken into Howe’s starting XI, having initially made the loan move from the Blues in the summer.
Scoring three goals in 10 Premier League appearances, Ake was also a defensive lynch-pin on the south coast.
He impressed in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Brentford in the same competition over the weekend, but nonetheless he is set for a battle to break into the Chelsea starting XI – barring injuries.

It is still believed that Antonio Conte wants to keep hold of Nathan Ake, however with reports of a late move also for Schalke 04 full-back Sead Kolasinac in The Mirror – coupled with the news the 21 year-old is not in the squad at Anfield – could there yet be a late twist?
